Love is Patient
When Dana was first diagnosed at age 31 with neuroendocrine cancer, she'd never heard of the disease. She was shocked and scared. Her boyfriend at the time couldn't cope with the gravity of her diagnosis and soon Dana found herself alone. Her world was turned upside down and she didn't know how to move forward. She had a strong family that supported her, but that missing piece in her life of someone to love, left a hole in her heart that was hard to fill. Just as she was about to give up on love, she ran into Brien, an old friend she hadn't seen in a long time. They locked eyes and knew something was different this time. They started spending everyday together and quickly fell in love. A few months later, Dana received bad news from a scan. She worried that she'd find herself in a similar situation as before -- with a partner who couldn't handle it. She told Brien that this wasn't his problem to deal with and he should just go on and enjoy his life. Brien held her close, looked her in the eyes, and told her he'd never leave her side.
