Pioneering LGBTQ filmmaker Barbara Hammer explains why she supports expanding end-of-life care options in New York to include medical aid in dying. Barbara lived with ovarian cancer for 12 years and died on March 16, 2019. In this video, she powerfully explains why New York should pass a medical aid-in-dying law. It would give terminally ill people with 6 months or less to live the option to peacefully end their suffering. Her advocacy generated 16 stories, including by The Advocate, The New Yorker, and The Washington Post. Her longtime partner/spouse Florrie Burke is carrying on her work.
