Dr. Anita Gupta is the nation’s leading anesthesiologist and pharmacist, and appointed faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, in the Department of Anesthesiology. Her clinical expertise areas include pain medicine, health policy, biotechnology, drug development, government affairs, digital transformation, patient-centricity. She completed her anesthesiology residency at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C., and her pain fellowship at Johns Hopkins. She received her doctorate in pharmacy from Rutgers University. She completed her master’s in public policy from Princeton University, medical school at UMDNJ-School of Medicine, General Management Program at Harvard Business School. Dr. Gupta serves as an executive business leader, board of director of public and private-sector organizations, and has served as an appointed member and advisor to the National Academies of Sciences, National Quality Forum, U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Anita Gupta was named one of Goldman Sachs 10K Business Scholars, Top 100 Inspiring Leaders, Global Emerging Leader in the Life Sciences Industry, National Academy of Art & Sciences Finalist, Harvard Business School Strategy Finalist. She was named a Top Physician in Philadelphia for her frontline work in the opioid crisis and won the Learner Award by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC). In 2019, Gupta was honored by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for publishing her commentary on Compassionate, Patient-Centered Care in the Digital Age, and related to rare diseases at Johns Hopkins School Medicine. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
